Rules & Guidelines
To avoid injury, damage or un-sportsman like conduct, we would like you to take note of the following points.
Waivers
A waiver must be signed by all players wishing to play at Black Hills Airsoft. Please download, print and sign the waiver which can be downloaded from here. Waivers will also be available from the site at all events.
Caution
All players should take care when navigating through the site. The site's terrain is extremely varied and unforgiving in places. Be aware of your footing, and take extra care with hazards such as tree roots, low-hanging branches, nettles and brambles.
Weapon & Equipment Safety
- All personal equipment should be fit for use (i.e. not broken or unsafe).
- All weapons should conform to the site FPS limits:
- AEG - 350fps max.
- Single-shot high-power rifles - 500fps max. (Note: There is a 20m minimum engagement distance on high-power rifles.
- DMR - These must be set to single-shot only, and are to be used at the discretion of the site staff. They should not exceed 400fps max.
- Any weapons above these limits should not be used on the site as they pose a danger to other players.
- Although, by nature, high-power rifles are restricted at close range, they must not be fired directly at a players head or uncovered skin. This is to avoid unnecessary injury to other players.
- Pyros can be used on the site, in specific areas. They should never be thrown directly at another player.
- You may provide your own pyros (purchased off-site), however, we do require that they conform to basic standards of safety and be carried without risk to yourself or others.
- e.g. In the case of thunder flashes, they must not be live until armed by a striker or flame.
- Any pyros bought on-site will conform to these safety standards, and we expect no less from personal pyros.
- Please make sure you are familiar with the manufacturers “proper use” guidelines of any pyros used to avoid putting yourself and others at risk.
- Any un-detonated pyros need to be pointed out to a member of staff at the end of the game for safe removal. For your own safety, do not try to move/inspect/dispose of these yourself.
- All off-site pyros must be declared to a staff member before the start of a game for approval and cleared as “fit for purpose”.
In-Game Rules & Guidelines
The specific game rules will be explained prior to the game starting.
Over-Kill
- Over-kill is not acceptable
- Please be aware that some support weapons have increased firing rate and have magazines holding 4000 BBs. Walking in to the fire-path of these will result in multiple hits, so please use your own judgement before complaining about over-kill.
Weapon Handling
- All shots should be fired using the weapons sights. No blind-firing shots.
- Wherever possible, all shots should be aimed at the center-mass of the opponents body (e.g. chest or stomach).
Hits
- A hit is when a BB directly hits your clothing, skin, or weapon.
- Ricochets do not count as hits.
- If you are unsure about a hit, be a sportsman and take the hit.
- If you are hit, and out of the game, you should move to a safe area of the game site until the game is finished. During this time, all safety protection must still be worn and weapons should be made safe with magazines ejected and your weapon's chamber clear of any BBs.
Grenade Kills
- Anyone within a 5m radius of a grenade will be classed as a hit, unless you are behind solid cover.
Cheat Calling
- If you feel a player is cheating, bring it to the attention of a member of staff.
- Do not try to resolve these issues yourself.
- Call your hits, not someone elses!
General Site Rules & Guidelines
Footwear
Suitable footwear must be worn. Due to the terrain, we recommend a sturdy pair of combat boots (or similar) with ankle support and increased grip. Open-toed shoes will not be allowed on site.
Eye & Face Protection
- Eye protection must be worn at all times when outside the safe-zone. This can be full-face protection or safety glasses.
- Players under the age of 18 must wear full-face protection.
- To avoid facial injury, we recommend safety glasses and a half-mask to all players.
- Ballistic glasses should be within the framed 2.0 surpasses, ANSI Z87.1, PRF31013 or EN167 rated.
Children

All children have a right to protection, and the needs of disabled children who may be particularly vulnerable must be taken into account. Site staff will ensure the safety and protection of all children on the site.
A child is defined as any person under the age of 18 (Children act 1989).
Bullying & Anti-Social Behaviour
Bullying and discrimination of any kind will not be tolerated on the site, whether it be physical or verbal. Anyone caught doing so will be removed from the site.
Clothing
Players usually use dedicated clothing for airsoft so as not to damage any high value clothing or footwear. A good example of this would be combat clothing which can be purchased from an army surplus store as they are cheap to replace if damaged. Gloves are also advised as bare-skin injuries can occur. We take no responsibility for damage to personal clothing.
Safe Zone
The designated safe-zone has some specific rules to keep it safe.
- No loaded weapons.
- All magazines should be removed from your weapon.
- Weapon chambers must be cleared of any BBs.
- The weapon's safety catch must be applied
- Pyros should be safely stored so not to risk accidental detonation.
- Safety glasses/masks do not need to be worn in this area.
- Please use the designated smoking areas provided.

First Aid
The first aid kit will be available in the safe zone, and there will be at least one competent first aider on-site. Note: First aiders cannot give out pain relief. In these situations, please seek medical advice.
Alcohol & Drugs
- No alcohol is to be consumed in the gaming area.
- Drugs are not permitted on the site unless prescribed by a doctor.
- Please make a member of staff aware of this in-case we need to get items to you.
- Anyone deemed unfit to play through misuse of drugs or alcohol will not be allowed to play.
Black Hills Airsoft takes no responsibility for any loss, damage or injury. Players use this site at their own risk.
